Tracer Takeoffs is built by a qualified quantity surveyor, estimator and construction business owner with 25+ years on the tools — so it works the way you actually price a job, not how a software team imagines you do.
Drag in a project's worth of PDFs — even big multi-page sets. Everything's organised by job.
Calibrate off a known dimension or pick a preset, then measure lengths, areas and counts.
Group your takeoffs with running totals, link them to your Excel BoQ, and export CSV or a marked-up PDF.
Not a cut-down web viewer. The measuring, scaling, revision and bill-of-quantities tools of the desktop packages, in your browser, on every plan — including the free trial.
Tracer Takeoffs is run hands-on by its founder — a qualified quantity surveyor and estimator with 25 years on the tools, still pricing jobs. Questions go to someone who knows what a bill of quantities is for, not a ticket queue.
Customers shape the product: Scale Zones, line thickness for whole drawings and multi-select were all asked for by estimators using it, and shipped within days.
Buy seats for your firm on one bill and every seat is cheaper from the second one: 10% off for 2–4 seats, 15% for 5–9, 20% for 10 or more. Each estimator gets their own full account; seats move to a replacement when someone leaves.

No. Tracer Takeoffs runs entirely in your browser, so it works even on locked-down corporate IT that blocks software installs.
Yes — bring in your own BoQ, take off straight into it, and export it back out complete and client-ready.
Yes. The Line thickness button in the toolbar (or press W) sets the width for one measurement, a whole group, or the entire drawing in one go — and every drawing you haven't measured yet starts at that width, on whichever computer you sign in on. Hold Ctrl and click to select several measurements and change their width, colour or hatch together.
Upload the new issue onto the same drawing and your measurements, scale and groups carry over as they are; the old file is kept, so you can look back or revert. Compare the two with a slider or a red/blue overlay, and Find changes draws revision clouds round what moved — a checklist you tick off, with a CHECK tag on any measurement that sits in a change. The comparison prints as its own PDF.
Yes — set the sheet scale, then draw a Scale Zone round any detail drawn at another scale, say a 1:20 section on a 1:100 plan. Everything measured inside it uses that scale, the rest of the sheet keeps its own, and your CSV, PDF and BoQ all follow.
Roughly half the price of the established desktop tools, plus a pay-per-project option for occasional use.
50 GB on every account — including the free trial. That's roughly 5,000 typical PDF drawings, more than most estimators upload in years of takeoff work. If you ever genuinely need more, message Support and we'll raise it.
Your drawings and takeoffs are stored securely in the cloud, scoped to your account, and never shared.
